The Konor of the Odumase-Krobo Traditional Council, Nene Sakite II and his elders, have sneered at people who are accusing them of selling the repliqu montre de luxe Krobo Mountains to investors.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at the Konor’s Palace at Odumase in the Eastern Region, Nene Asada Ahor, Akuse chief and the Public Relations Officer (CEO) of the Manya- Krobo Traditional Council, who read the statement on behalf of the Konor, noted that the allegations leveled against them were unfounded.
The angry chief noted that the Krobo Mountains are a sacred and highly valued by all Krobos which the chiefs are obliged to protect.
It would be recalled that Konor was accused by some unidentified citizens of the area of selling the mountains to investors, which caused confusion in the entire traditional council.
The Konor, at an emergency meeting Panerai Radiomir replica held last Monday, publicized the actual facts.
“The mountains will never be sold, it cannot be sold, its our family house, one cannot sell his family house. However, appropriate opportunities to advance the economic and social development of the Manya Krobo through all aspects related to the Krobo Mountains will remain an important component of our economic development strategy,” he noted.
He said the chiefs have not met to decide to sell the mountains to any entity.
According to him, the rumors were baseless as there has not been any contractual arrangement to excavate, sell or remove any historical items from the Krobo Mountains.
The PRO noted that Nene Sakite II, the Konor would set up a traditional committee with the mandate to oversee any activity relating to cultural or historical sites on the lands in the future.
Chieftaincy disputes are sometimes complex, which the public must know how to speak about, he said.
According to him, recently after the holding of the Ngymayem Festival, there was a false publication that the Akwenoor Division had boycotted the festival and the Thanksgiving Service klockor kopior because there was some misunderstanding among members of the traditional council.
The chiefs of Akweenoor were present at the durbar and it was only the Thanksgiving Service which was optional, but not that there is an division among them.
He stated that the divisional chiefs have the mandate to make appropriate decisions on behalf of the people of Manya Krobo.
He, however, cautioned the media to be objective, circumspect and accurate in their reportage.
